Is your man fulfilling his end of the bargain? It’s a mans job.

April 11th, 2009

Often in relationships, there are some jobs that men should do and ones that women should do. There is definitely a grey area for certain jobs, but the jobs listed below is my opinion of what a man’s job is. (This is not saying a women can’t do them, it’s saying a man should do them, because that’s our role)

Top 10 jobs that are recession proof in any economy that are for men:

1. It’s a man’s job to take out the garbage to the curb on garbage day.

2. It’s a man’s job to dispose of mouses/rats when there is surprising infestation that has just come about.

3. It’s a man’s job to give his coat up to you on a rainy day.

4. It’s a man’s job to make the reservations and order at the restaurant.

5. It’s a man’s job to shovel the snow after a snow storm.

6. It’s a man’s job to deal with any scary people that come in close proximity to her.

7. It’s a man’s job to do all the yard work. This includes mowing the lawn, trimming the hedge, sweeping shrubs, hosing
down ant farms, picking weeds etc.

8. It’s a man’s job to take her to the doctor when she’s sick.

9. It’s a man’s job to tell her she’s beautiful.

And the most important one of all:

10.It’s a man’s job to make her feel loved.

With all these jobs that men have, it’s a mystery as to how they have so much time on their hands!

  • I would totally trade taking the garbage out to the curb (the easiest freaking job in America *ahem. or in um, North America*) for washing the dishes (the most annoying job in North America). Plus, washing the dishes dries out my dainty hands which are already dried out by doing all the yardwork.

Some of these man jobs, I would not really want to give up were I to fall in love with some Chivalrous Prince. But here are the ones I would super appreciate:

    3. Giving up the Coat. This is mainly due to the fact that fashionable dress for women is often slightly ridiculous/skin baring/cold and unless she’s brought her faux mink coat a woman is likely to be cold if at all dressed up and the weather changes. Now if its ’cause we went skiing and I just decided that I didn’t want to wear a parka because I didn’t want to look fat, that would be my own dang fault.

    4. Making the Reservation. It makes me feel special and it makes the dinner feel like a special event. That is all.

    6. Deal with Scary People. I’m a city girl. I can deal with scary people like the rest of them. But sometimes men won’t listen to a woman when she say’s “get lost”. The creep will, however, listen to another man. In this case, its very helpful to have a man stand up for you. The man doesn’t have to be a boyfriend or a brother or a father. He can be a friend or an inlaw or a neighbor or a friend’s husband, etc.

    8. Taking her to the Doctor: Duh. If someone is sick and needs to go to the doctor, its unlikely that they’ll be able to do it for themselves safely.

    9. Telling her She’s Beautiful: Why not.

    10. Making her feel Loved: I think its everyone’s own responsibility to feel loved but a man should actively demonstrate how he feels, not just in words, but in small gestures and actions. Its the details that count here.

And I’d like to add an number 11:

    11. Its a man’s job to satisfy a woman in bed.

    Hey Singlutionary,

That’s not a fair trade! You only have to take out the garbage once a week. Doing the dishes is an everyday chore that you have to do multiple times during the day if you don’t have a dishwasher! Nice try! haha

Great opinions. I definitely agree with number 11. A woman needs to be satisfied on different levels. If she isn’t, she’ll go elsewhere.

    The Relationship Guy.
