Date Ideas in Toronto #2 - Going to the bookstore in Toronto

bookstoreSometimes when thinking about going on a date people fall into the trap of over planning. They feel that they need to take a person to many places so they can get the other person to like them. Taking a girl to 4-5 places in one day is quite overwhelming for her. The best times, in my opinion, are when two people are experiencing one another in the simplest of situations. A good place for this to happen is the bookstore.

5 reasons why you should take your date to a bookstore

1. It’s a calm and quiet place with no unwanted noise. The last thing you want to do is go to a place where you have to fight to hear each other. The bookstore is a pleasant, quiet, and simple place to talk and pick up a book that you have been dying to get your hands on.

2. Bookstores usually are adjacent to a cafe where you can grab a coffee/tea/or cold beverage and participate in a mild discussion. Any opportunity that presents itself to learn something new about someone should be taken full advantage of. Try to find things in common between the book or the genre of books that she likes to her personality and the way she looks. It’s a great way to generate jokes and laughter between the two of you.

3. It presents itself as a creative environment. You should never take a person on a date and do something boring. Boring is the last thing that comes to mind when you think about all the books, ideas, and intellectual stimulation that comes from going to the bookstore. Being in a bookstore with so many books and topics to discover it influences the creative juices in both of you to explore certain aspects of each other. If you go into the sports section of the bookstore, you can ask her about what sports you play. If you go into the cooking section, you can find out what favourite dishes she likes. If you go into the personal finance section, you can find out how much money she owes on her credit card.

4. By taking her to the bookstore it shows that you are interested in things that intellectually stimulate you. Try to pick up books about topics that she does not know that much about. A girl is always looking to learn new things. If you’re able to teach her new things it’s always a plus. Who doesn’t remember all the good teachers that they had in life? I’m not saying that you need to know everything and teach her the world, but by knowing a lot about certain popular topics it shows that you are a motivated person that constantly wants to grow and learn new things.

5. There should be no nervousness and expectations. Everyone has gone to a bookstore before. By taking a date to the bookstore it presents itself with no expectations to “perform” or do something you’re not comfortable with. Both of you are there to explore and learn things about ideas and each other. Ask anyone if a bookstore is great to go to with a date and they will give you their two thumbs of approval.

  1. Singlutionary Says:

If you take a girl to a bookstore, please don’t head directly to the sex section and then start asking her about the Kama Sutra!

I suggest meeting up for coffee at/near the bookstore and then if that goes well inviting her to browse the books with you, picking up on a section that would interest both of you from the conversation (gardening, cars, travel, poetry, camping, etc)
