There are many ways to find someone from the opposite sex (or same sex for that matter) to find a date. You name it, there is a place that people can spark interest in another human being.
One of the places you can spark an interest with someone is at work. And why not? You tend to spend the majority of your life working. It would only seem plausible that you make connections with some of the people that you work with.
However, I would make the argument that you shouldn’t date people from work.
At work you need to be focused. Sure you can send sweet e-mails to people to distract your mind for a bit, but that’s a slight distraction to what your main focus should be. Also, there’s nothing attractive about having someone you’re dating or married to working with you or at the same company.
Because you work with that person, you have nothing to look forward to outside of work because they’re always there, surrounding you….you’ll get tired of people easily.
Another reason is that you go to work for one main reason: to make the money. In relationships, you spend money. You can’t mix the two, because if you do, you end up being at net zero. Which leaves plenty of time to get bored of each other later on because you have so much time to waste with no money to spend.
This causes the value of your relationship to plummet. See where I’m going with this?
Dating at work also causes alot of unnecessary stress to hide your relationship from people. Let’s face it, people at work love to talk to their hearts content about people. You’d be just another person added to the “did you know so and so is going out with” list. And when the personal and professional lines get blurred at work, it can cause unnecessary perceptions and questionable behaviour. And for people who are trying to make the money at work you can’t afford to have those distractions.
I would try to avoid dating people at work. However, the world works in strange ways. Sometimes things happen.
Good day.
