I’d ask for your phone number but I don’t talk on the phone anymore.
It’s no doubt that voice revenues from the wireless carriers are decreasing, if you don’t believe me, just read here.
What does this mean? It’s simple: people hardly talk on the phone anymore. Emails, SMS, MSN chats and giggles, black berry messenger etc. are used more commonly.
Because of this, is it worth asking for someone’s phone number right away when you’re trying to pick someone up? Because as seen….does anyone ever use the phone anymore?
The answer is yes, but with a caveat.
People ask for another person’s phone number because as a society we equate this to “I want to go out with you”.
So once you get the number and people get the acknowledgment that the other person wants to go out with them, they’re pretty much in the safe zone to use any lines of communication they like. And seeing as though most people are lazy and like doing the least amount of work possible, they rely on messaging each other instead of calling.
As our digital economy evolves, this behavior is only going to continue. Is there anything we can do about this?
Of course!
Use the phone number! You don’t have to use it at every waking hour of the day, but use it when you want to communicate! Women actually like to be called! So if you ask for the number make sure you use it!
